Selection of supplier
With more than 50 years of experience working with skilled and professional suppliers around the world, we have made it an art to select suppliers that meet our high standards.
We take our social responsibility as a company very seriously, and it is of the utmost importance to us that our customers and consumers feel safe knowing that our products are manufactured under the best possible circumstances.
This means, among other things, that our selection process comes with a set of very strict instructions, which every supplier must follow, including Amfori BSCI and our Code of Conduct.
Amfori BSCI
Since 2008, Schou has been part of Amfori BSCI, also known as the Business Social Compliance Initiative.
BSCI is an industry-driven initiative that aims to monitor and assess workplace standards across the global supply chain.
The Amfori BSCI program consists of more than 2,400 members from 40 countries - many of which are large retail chains.
As a member of BSCI, Schou ensures that our suppliers comply with strict international principles, ranging from discrimination to forced and child labour, as well as fair wages, environmental protection and work safety.
The suppliers are regularly inspected by independent audit firms, who identify non-compliance issues
and report them. When a problem is raised, the supplier is obliged to take corrective measures and show ongoing improvements over time.
Product development and purchasing
Our extensive experience with imports and product development comes from a long-lasting collaboration with some of the largest and most professional factories in the Far East. This has given us a unique insight into the possibilities for product development.
In addition, we have many years of experience with the retail trade in large parts of Europe, which means that we can guide our customers with everything they may need. This enables us to enter into purchasing collaborations with our customers and together create the best possible
foundation for joint success.
Product safety
Today, greater demands are placed on product safety than ever before. Therefore, we have implemented several measures and processes to ensure that all product safety requirements are met.
We work carefully to ensure that all documentation about, for example, chemical content is in accordance with the legal requirements, and we impose very strict rules on our suppliers.
A large part of this work consists of factory controls, regular product inspections and proper labeling. In order to set the highest possible standard in this area, all employees in our product safety department have a relevant background in chemistry or engineering as well as many years of experience in product control.
Product safety is a very extensive and complex area which is subject to strict requirements. It is extremely important to us that our customers can be absolutely sure that our products comply with the latest regulatory and environmental requirements. Therefore, our employees are always up-to-date on laws and regulations in this area through ongoing training.
Quality control
Our products and services must always meet the high standards that our customers demand. That's why we have a team dedicated to ensuring that our partner factories follow the BSCI Code of Conduct as well as our own Code of Conduct and FSC certification.
A strict set of rules ensures that our products are well
packaged and stored safely in the warehouses. In addition, a drop test is performed to ensure the safety of the products that are packed inside.
The product itself goes through several tests, such as a hi-pot test on electrical products and a shock test for chairs. These tests are carried out to ensure that our high standards of craftsmanship, basic functions, look, smell, feel and sound are met.
Packaging
We believe that the packaging is the external face of the product. This is how the products are presented and the importance of good packaging cannot be overestimated. If the packaging stands out on the shelf and communicates a clear and distinct message, the product is more likely to be sold.

Our marketing department consists of a dedicated design team that has the necessary industry knowledge to create and execute stunning and cutting-edge designs that suit our clients' needs. The team designs and develops strong,
recognizable and unique packaging that can easily compete with any other packaging on the market.
Furthermore, our packaging is easy to handle and comes with our build-it-up range of store displays.
Logistics
We have worked for over 30 years to secure our unique position in logistics. Because of our size and connections, we can negotiate freight rates with more authority than many others, and the size of our orders alone allows us to get priority on both outbound and inbound freight.
This makes us a very strong and reliable business partner and means that when others experience problems with delivery, we have a much better chance of ensuring regular deliveries to our customers.
We have a very extensive logistics team and offer many ways to deliver products so that small and large businesses can get their products delivered in the fastest and most cost-effective way.
We will always try to find the best shipping method depending on the size of the order and the desired type of item. We have the options and the level of service to meet all our customers' needs
Customised logistics
We understand the importance of planning and are very conscious of it. That is why it is our comprehensive logistics team's first priority to do everything they can to ensure that the products are delivered at the desired place, time and date.
We offer various delivery methods to ensure that we
fulfill our customers' delivery wishes:
Some of our large customers prefer products delivered directly to their store or warehouse for convenience, which we are happy to help with. For delivery to a country where we operate, we take care of delivery, customs and other costs. For other countries we do the heavy work and help with the logistics, but the legal responsibility and the legal costs are borne by the customer himself.
Other customers may have an attractive transport system and prefer to handle their own freight. In this case, we transfer the ownership of the container when it is still in the country of production, which means the customer is responsible for shipping and insurance.
Finally, we provide after-sales service according to agreement.
