Mød Rasmus Munk Lauritsen// Purchase Trainee, Outdoor Furniture

Take in all the learning you can!

When you meet Rasmus, it’s with an open smile and a spark in his eye. He’s been with Schou since February 2024, and although he’s still a trainee, he’s already made his mark on both the purchasing department and the company. “There are so many opportunities to learn and develop at Schou – especially as a trainee. My best advice to other trainees is: Soak up all the learning you can!

Learning, responsibility, and engagement

“In purchasing, we work across many areas, so I often move around the building to talk with, for example, the sales department. I also have frequent contact with our suppliers in the Far East. Otherwise, my day consists of handling emails, checking product samples, and responding to inquiries.”

For Rasmus, it’s not just the tasks that make the job exciting, but also the responsibility he’s entrusted with: “Even though I’m a trainee, I work with a wide range of tasks, each requiring responsibility and commitment. It makes for a truly educational and motivating workday.”

From the shop floor to large orders

Rasmus’ path to the position went through an EUX Business program at Campus Vejle, where he specialized in B2B Trade. “I actually started out as a retail salesperson,” he says, “but when I saw that Schou was looking for a purchasing trainee, I became very interested. It’s funny to have sold garden furniture to end customers – and now be the one purchasing them. And I think it’s really cool that we handle such large orders and volumes for some of Europe’s biggest retail chains.”

Strong community – also after work

“The social community here is really strong,” Rasmus says. “There’s always a great atmosphere, and we collaborate across departments throughout the company. That’s given me some great colleagues and friendships, and it definitely makes everyday life more fun and motivating.”

“I also think it’s fantastic that we now have our own padel court at Schou,” he adds with a laugh. “It’s super cool to have the opportunity to play with or against your colleagues.”

Energy and balance in his free time

Outside of work, Rasmus stays active and social. He plays padel, runs, and enjoys spending time with friends and family. “I relax best after a good run – and I also watch a lot of football with my friends, or beat them in a game of FIFA.”

Rasmus’ journey has only just begun, and we’re excited to be part of it.
