Meet Peter Pallesen, Graphic Designer in Marketing

Peter Pallesen has been a central part of Schou’s marketing department since 2011 and is known as the company’s most positive man. “You’re probably the most positive man in the company,” our CEO Gotfred once said, and it’s hard to disagree.

Peter joined Schou after 31 years in the same company in the printing industry. When he started at Schou, the marketing department was small, with only three employees, and Peter worked on catalogs, photography, and other tasks. Today, the department has grown to 20 colleagues including the photo and decoration departments, and the tasks have become more specialized. Peter primarily works on manuals and catalogs together with his colleague Lars, which he thoroughly enjoys.

"I’ve been part of the journey from uncertain times with financial deficits to today’s record profits, and it’s been an amazing experience.”

A Valuable Adjustment

One of the biggest changes during Peter’s time at Schou was when our marketing manager Sara rearranged the office seating. "I wasn’t happy about it at first and thought it was pretty annoying," Peter admits. However, the change turned out to create a better workflow and stronger team spirit within the department. "I had to give Sara an unconditional apology," Peter says with a laugh. It’s this open attitude toward change that defines him.

Marketing’s Move to Vision Park

Recently, the marketing department moved from the headquarters at Nordager to Vision Park in Kolding South, where our warehouse and a few other departments are also located. Peter describes this as a positive change. "It’s great to be here, and it will be even better when the new main building is completed and brings the entire company together," he says. The move has provided the department with a new environment that matches the company’s growth.

Hiring the Right People

Peter also emphasizes how good the company is at hiring the right people. "I’m impressed by how skilled the employees are and how well they’ve been matched to their roles." Even though Schou has grown significantly, Peter believes the company’s spirit and core values have been preserved. "We’ve become a lot more people, but we still have the same strong sense of community. And every time we get a new colleague, it feels like gaining a new friend."

A Tough Period

Last year, Peter lost his wife to cancer, and he shares how much his colleagues, especially Sara, meant to him during that time. "It was an enormous support to have them around me," he says. For Peter, it’s precisely this strong sense of collegiality that makes Schou special.

A Piece of Advice from Peter

Peter has a simple yet wise piece of advice for his colleagues: "Take a moment before you complain - it might turn out to be a good solution." His ability to find the positive in everything is reflected in both his work and his way of being a colleague.

Joy in Life and at Work

Even though Peter is now 66 years old, he has no plans to stop working. "I love being here and would rather not work from home - I want to be with my fantastic colleagues." The positive energy and close relationships within the department mean everything to him.
